Convention
News
In
case you haven't heard, all competitions, performances and Harmony
Bazaar will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center —- all
under one roof.
Our professional staff of convention and competition planners just returned from the Island with wonderful and exciting news about the venue.
Get
ready for what is likely to be the most exhilarating and thrilling
competition to date. There will be great seating right in front
of the stage, five big screens (instead of only two from previous
years), extra speakers providing enhanced and superior sound quality
and no matter where you sit you are never more than 175 feet from
seeing the action onstage or on the big screen. Care has been
taken to design the seating to avoid sight line issues caused
by the support pillars in the hall.
That's
not all! The Hawaii Convention Center is convenient and within
walking distance of several of the Sweet Adelines' hotels. The
Hawaii Convention Center combines the modern requirements of a
state-of-the-art meeting facility with the beauty, comfort and
culture that are uniquely Hawaiian. A live feed of the competitions
will be provided in the Harmony Bazaar area and the venue will
cater to its guests with first-class facilities —- escalators,
restrooms at every turn, enhanced low lighting making it easier
to find your seat, delicious food vendors and wireless Internet
connections.
For competitors the Hawaii Convention Center will offer the best traffic pattern in years!
The
organization will be saving thousands in busing costs by moving
the entire convention and competition to the Hawaii Convention
Center. And the venue will allow fire dancers on the Showcase
stage —- so don't forget to purchase your tickets today!
Combining
an excellent location with 9,000 of the world's most fabulous
woman is sure to create once-in-a-lifetime memories.

Important Changes
The International Board of Directors adopted some changes for convention this year, and we wanted to make sure you are aware of them.
The Board agreed that a charge of $5 for name badge changes/additions, unless the change is necessitated by a typographical error, will begin at convention this year. For any name addition or change, please contact Lana Clark by September 1 to avoid being charged. After September 1, all changes will be made on-site at the ticket office and $5 will be assessed for each change.
The
Board also agreed that each attendee will receive one ticket for
the redemption of one program at no charge. Convention programs
will be available in the International Sales area, ticket office
and the headquarters office for redemption with a ticket, or for
$1 each with no ticket.

Dedicated
with love to the spirit of the
Sweet Adelines International Convention
Hawaii, November 2008
It is truly a pleasure for Pride of Portland to present our beloved
organization with the gift of Aloha`Oe, arranged by one
of our members, Kay MacDierney. As those of you who have travelled
to Hawaii know, the people, energy, and spirit of the islands
is unlike any other on earth. Paired with the love, joy, and harmony
that we Sweet Adelines embody, our upcoming International convention
should prove to be a magical event - not only for those of us
fortunate to be competitors, but for all who will take part.
All of the tools you need to learn the song are on this website
www.alohaoearrangement.com
which we created for this purpose: including learning tracks,
pronunciation guide, and sheet music.
We hope you will enjoy learning Aloha`Oe and find time
during our week together in Hawaii to say hello to us and other
sisters in song and sing through this wonderful work.
